Report
A slower week of sales generated softness in a few key framing lumber
prices. However, most prices stayed on firm footing, or even
increased. Studs, and 2x4-8s in particular, held to a strong upward
trend. Thinning mill order files raised hopes among some buyers for a
＾buying opportunity.￣ Traders debated the breadth of that
opportunity, and even whether it was in the cards in the immediate
term, as bullish outlooks continued to outweigh bearish sentiment.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel prices shifted in both directions. While many
OSB traders stayed on the sidelines, prices gave ground as a few
producers put together blocks with customers to extend their order
files. Prices of Southern Pine plywood stayed on an upward path, as
some producers quoted for shipment in May. Most plants held order
files that were solidly booked into the weeks of April 22 and 29. In
western Fir plywood, inventory gaps developed more frequently in the
Northeast and Midwest, with buyers scrambling to cover needs,
especially early in the week.
