Sputtering demand of recent weeks resulted in widening cracks in
prices of framing lumber, as spring time officially arrived ！ at
least on the calendar. Purging buildups was a priority for producers
in most regions. The exception was Western Canada, where continued
shortages of cars kept many producers unwilling to lower quotes amid
their inability to ship a large volume of orders already on the books.
Nonetheless, softening prices left many buyers wary that today¨s
purchases could be worth less tomorrow.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel sales ranged from steady to quiet.
End-of-quarter pressures and memories of last year¨s
second-quarter meltdown kept buyers of OSB on the sidelines.
Southern Pine plywood sales were steady enough to keep the market on
a firmer footing than OSB or western Fir plywood. Order files mostly
extended into the week of March 31. Another week of lackluster
activity left traders scratching their heads and wondering when
business would pick up. Prices were flat to down a few dollars.
