Report
Sales of framing lumber got a shot in the arm with Thursday¨s
limit-up move in futures. Prices that wobbled early in the week
solidified, and often moved higher. The firming tone gave buyers more
confidence that they could fill in or re-stake long positions and sell
at a profit. Jobs in the Upper Midwest and Northeast were in catch-up
mode following the rough winter and wet spring. Late-week gains in key
prices elevated the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price to
$392, a $7 gain for the week.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel sales slowed, with OSB markets in the South a
notable exception. OSB trading was mixed by region, and prices were
flat to stronger. Gains were limited to the southern regions, where
hints that the market had found a bottom brought buyers off the
fence to cover needs into September. Southern Pine plywood sales
were subdued as customers resisted paying mill quotes. Buyers who
normally purchase railcars shifted to truckloads. The pace of sales
in western Fir plywood ranged between slow and measured.
