19 Percent of Americans Shop For Carpet, Appliances, Furniture |
| 19 percent of Americans shop for carpet,
appliances, furniture National Report - December 30 - The number of U.S. households actively shopping for carpeting, furniture and major appliances in December totaled 19 percent, a 4 percent drop compared with last year, according to a monthly national survey conducted by Leo J. Shapiro and Associates in Chicago. According to the poll, 3 percent of U.S. households were actively shopping for carpeting, 11 percent were shopping for furniture and 7 percent were looking for a major appliance. About 38 percent of those households said they might actually buy one of those products in the coming year. That's a 4 percent drop compared with last month and a 2 percent decline from a year ago.
