Sweden: Rising sawlog prices and declining pulpwood prices in 2014

In 2014, Swedish sawlog prices rose, while pulpwood prices fell in comparison to 2013. Statistics for the fourth quarter of 2014 show an increase in prices when compared to the previous quarter.
In 2014, the sawlog prices rose, while pulpwood prices fell in comparison to 2013. Statistics for the fourth quarter of 2014 show an increase in prices when compared to the previous quarter.

Totally, the sawlog prices rose (delivery timber) by five percent in 2014 compared to the year 2013. There was an increase in the regions of Central and Southern Sweden by seven percent while prices in the region Northern Sweden fell by five percent. The increase was larger for the sawlog of Norway spruce than of Scots pine with six percent respective three percent.

Pulpwood prices fell by four percent in 2014 compared to 2013. Prices fell mainly in the regions of Northern and Central Sweden by eight percent respective four percent.

In the fourth quarter of 2014 the pulpwood prices rose by two percent compared to the previous quarter. The prices mainly increased in the region Northern Sweden by five percent. Sawlog prices rose, particularly in the regions of Northern Sweden and Southern Sweden.
