Random Lengths Lumber Market Report

Sales of framing lumber tapered off in all species, with most traders citing wintry weather and shipping problems. Shipping out of Western Canada, already beset with railcar shortages, took another hit as truckers implemented a work stoppage at the Vancouver port. Icy conditions slowed shipments in parts of the South, leaving trends mixed. With a few key prices slipping, the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite edged down.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report

Structural panel trading faded, and winter weather drew much of the blame. Sales of OSB remained lackluster as wintry weather kept demand under wraps. Prices were narrowly mixed, with small increases posted in southern markets. Southern Pine plywood sales cooled in comparison with previous weeks, but prices stayed on a firm footing. Traders reported more difficulty procuring both trucks and railcars. Activity in western Fir plywood markets was muted, with most job sites still covered in snow or slowed by cold.
