Hayward Lumber, a prominent provider of premium building products since 1919, proudly announces the acquisition of Economy Lumber, a respected lumber yard in Campbell, CA. The union of these local, family-owned businesses is a significant step forward for the companies and their communities.

Founded in 1936, Economy Lumber is the first lumberyard in the unincorporated district of Santa Clara County, known as ¡°Burbank¡±. The company later relocated to Campbell, CA. Under the leadership of John D. Saunders, the third-generation President and CEO, Economy Lumber has played a vital role in the region¡¯s construction industry.

John D. Saunders explained, ¡°We believe in the strength of family-owned businesses, and in joining forces with Hayward Lumber, it became clear that this partnership was strategically sound and aligned with our core values. Our employees are at the heart of our success, and this union provides exciting opportunities for career growth within a company that values its team members. We are confident that this decision will bring positive outcomes for our customers, employees, and the local communities we proudly serve.¡±

Marc Mizgorski, CEO of Hayward Lumber, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, ¡°We¡¯re excited about Economy Lumber joining the Hayward family. This strategic move will provide valued customers access to an expanded range of products and services in Campbell, the Bay Area, and along the Central Coast. With a history of over a century, Hayward Lumber is committed to being the most dependable supplier of products, services, and solutions to the construction market. The acquisition of Economy Lumber aligns with Hayward Lumber¡¯s mission to enhance its offerings and extend its reach into Santa Clara County.

Both companies are strongly affiliated with LMC, an industry-buying cooperative, and are committed to delivering premium lumber, engineered wood, moulding, millwork, hardware, and decking products. Hayward Lumber¡¯s acquisition of Economy Lumber will result in an expanded footprint, encompassing eight lumberyard locations, six design centers, a pro tool and repair shop, one truss plant, four rail yards, and a combined workforce of approximately 270 employees across California.

In addition to their business initiatives, Hayward Lumber and Economy Lumber are actively involved in community projects. Hayward Lumber has sponsored underserved youth at Rancho Cielo in Salinas, CA, in a project that recently won the Orange County Sustainability Decathlon against major colleges. Economy Lumber has a proud history of supporting community theater, Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts of America, Santa Clara University, high school shop classes, and the San Jose City College Construction Technology program.
