Holmen is one of the largest forest owners in Sweden.  Holmen Group’s 2023 earnings were nowhere near as strong as they had been in the previous year.

Almost all divisions posted earnings that were sometimes well below the levels recorded in 2022, especially the firm’s paperboard and wood products operations. Nonetheless, Holmen was pleased with its performance. “Despite the challenging economic environment, we were able to maintain operating profit for 2023 at a historically good level of SEK4.8bn, thanks to high profits from paper, forest and hydropower,” remarked CEO Henrik Sjolund....
