Riverside Forest Products plans to build a new lumber mill in
Forks, Wa.
Riverside Forest Products USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Canada’s
Riverside Industries, has inked a lease with the city of Forks,
Wa., to build a sawmill at the Forks Industrial Park.
The $12-million facility will specialize in kiln-dried hemlock
and green Douglas fir dimensional lumber. Phase one will create
40 to 50 jobs. Another 30 to 50 positions could be added in two
to three years with the addition of a second shift.
Riverside would also like to build a cogeneration power plant.
A $200,000 grant secured by the Clallam Economic Development
Council will help reimburse Riverside for lighting and
electrical upgrades planned at the industrial park.
