By the end of July, prices for Irish storm-damaged wood, which
accumulated as a result of storms Darragh on December 6 and
Éowyn on January 24, have fallen only slightly. For Sitka spruce
in the sawlog and pallet wood segments, prices of €95 to €120/m³
cfr from a Central European North Sea port were reported across
all strength classes – which is still too high a price level
from buyers’ perspective. Central Europeans and Scandinavians
are hesitant to make regular purchases.
