Holmen Iggesund Sawmill Boosts Capacity 21%
Jul 23, 2026

Investments in planing and further processing have opened up new market opportunities for Iggesund

Following investments of around 500 million kronor, Swedish forest products group Holmen’s plant in Iggesund is now in the final stages of ramping up to a capacity of 460,000 cubic metres per year. The sawmill is also expanding its business to include new tree species and further processing.

Following several years of investment in drying capacity, log sorting, planing and the sawing line, Holmen’s sawmill in Iggesund is approaching full capacity as part of the largest modernisation in the plant’s history. Capacity has increased from around 380,000 to 460,000 cubic metres per year.

“If I were to give an idea of where we are in the ramp-up towards our final targets, I’d say we’re somewhere around 90 per cent,” Magnus Malmström, site manager at Holmen’s sawmill in Iggesund, told NTT Woodnet.
