Deli Home is set to strengthen its presence in Spain after
announcing plans to acquire Amargós S.L.U., a leading Spanish
manufacturer of modular wooden door frames. The proposed deal
marks Deli Home's seventh acquisition since Ardian became its
shareholder in 2021, further accelerating the group's expansion
across Europe.
Founded in 1972, Amargós has built a strong reputation in
Spain's renovation market and currently supplies more than 400
professional building material wholesalers, DIY stores and
specialist woodworking businesses across the country.
30,000m˛ Spanish production base
Amargós operates from a 30,000m˛ production facility near
Valencia, where it manufactures wooden door frames alongside
mouldings, sliding-door systems and decorative wood products.
The company's products reportedly find their way into around
100,000 homes every year, giving Deli Home an established
platform from which to expand its presence in the Spanish home
improvement market.
Following the proposed acquisition, Amargós is expected to
continue operating under its own brand and with its existing
management team.
A strategic fit for Deli Home
For Deli Home, the deal provides an opportunity to combine
Amargós' established Spanish customer network with its own
broader portfolio of doors, timber products, storage solutions
and interior applications. Deli Home CEO Eugčne Sterken said the
two companies' product portfolios are highly complementary and
could create opportunities to strengthen the group's offering
across the Iberian market. For Amargós, joining the larger
European group is expected to provide access to Deli Home's
international scale, digital capabilities and complementary
product portfolio.
Seventh acquisition since 2021
The proposed Amargós acquisition continues an aggressive
expansion strategy that has seen Deli Home add several
businesses to its European platform. Since Ardian became a
shareholder in 2021, Deli Home has acquired or taken strategic
stakes in Euromolding, Bash-tec, Allure, Houtwerf, Distri-Hout
and Karl G. Miller Holding (KGM).
The group says these acquisitions are helping move it closer to
its ambition of becoming "Europe's digital carpenter", combining
traditional craftsmanship with customised solutions and digital
innovation.
€550m turnover and 1,700 employees
Deli Home currently generates approximately €550 million in
group revenue and employs around 1,700 people. Its products are
sold through DIY chains, building material wholesalers, the door
industry and interior specialists across 10 European countries.
The group also places sustainability at the centre of its
proposition, stating that it uses exclusively FSC- or
PEFC-certified wood across its products.
Deal still awaits regulatory approval
While the proposed acquisition represents another significant
step in Deli Home's European growth strategy, the transaction is
still subject to approval by the relevant competition
authorities.
If completed, the deal would give Deli Home a considerably
stronger foothold in Spain while providing Amargós with the
scale and resources of a larger European platform. For a company
already pursuing a €550 million-plus growth strategy, Spain
could prove to be the next major piece of Deli Home's European
expansion puzzle.
