Raute signs €31m plywood technology orders for Kohila
Vineer’s expansion in Estonia
The orders cover technology for veneer and plywood production,
with deliveries scheduled from the second half of 2027.
Raute has signed contracts worth approximately €31m with
Estonia-based Kohila Vineer for technology to expand its plywood
production.
Kohila Vineer is part of Latvijas Finieris, which develops,
produces and sells birch plywood products under the Riga Wood
brand. The group operates plywood and veneer production
facilities in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, serving
industrial customers globally.
The total value includes several orders received during the
third quarter. The project became effective in full following
the signing of the final delivery contract on 14 Sep.
The orders cover production lines and supporting technologies
for veneer and plywood manufacturing. The equipment will combine
Raute’s R5 series with its automated R7 series across several
production processes.
The scope includes the modernisation of veneer drying and
grading, scarf-jointing and patching lines, as well as plywood
lay-up, pre-pressing, hot-pressing, repairing and overlaying
lines.
Raute will provide installation supervision, commissioning and
ramp-up support, while Kohila Vineer will carry out the
installation work.
Deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2027 and the
first quarter of 2028. The production lines are expected to
start up gradually from late 2027.
“It was important for us to select a reliable partner for this
significant investment. Raute’s ability to deliver a
comprehensive solution across the production process was a key
factor in our decision. This investment supports our long-term
development and strengthens our production capabilities,” said
Andres Laht, member of the board at Kohila Vineer.
“We are pleased to support Kohila Vineer in this investment. The
project highlights our capability to deliver large-scale
solutions where strong process expertise complements our
technology offering,” said Mika Saariaho, president and CEO of
Raute.
