
The U.S. exported 903,374.4 metric tons of wood pellets in
August, down 17% when compared to July, but up 1% from August
2025, according to data released by the USDA Foreign
Agricultural Service on Oct. 6.
The U.S. exported wood pellets to approximately 18 countries in
August. The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellet
exports at 651,664.6 metric tons, followed by France at 64,948.7
metric tons and Japan at 49,428 metric tons.
The value of U.S. wood pellet exports fell to $170.59 million in
August, down from $212.26 million the previous month and $173.71
million in August 2025.
Total U.S. wood pellet exports for the first eight months of
2026 reached 7.42 million metric tons at a value of $1.42
billion, compared to 6.72 million metric tons exported during
the same period of 2025 at a value of $1.29 billion.
