KCMA Reports 10.8% Hike In June Cabinet Sales

According to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association Trend of Business Survey, cabinet sales increased nearly 11 percent (10.8) in June 2002 over the same reporting period for last year. The Survey shows June sales are up 11.9 percent for stock cabinets and 6 percent for custom cabinets.

Year-to-date figures (six months) for cabinet sales have increased 11.4 percent, with stock cabinets netting a 13 percent gain and custom cabinets posting 4 percent growth.

In a recent press release, KCMA Executive Vice President Dick Titus stated: ¡°Despite sinking consumer confidence fed by continuing disclosures of corporate fraud and management wrong doing, real estate investments are performing well and homeowners understand the continued value of kitchen and bath remodeling.¡±

In other association actions, KCMA will begin in July 2002 reporting sales trends from participating members for ¡°semi-custom¡± cabinets along with stock and custom cabinets. Reportedly, the added category ¡°¡ will give a more complete picture of the industry.¡±

Member firms participating in the KCMA monthly Trend of Business Survey include stock and custom cabinet manufacturing companies that represent more than half of the cabinet market. The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association is the major trade association for manufacturers of kitchen cabinets and bath vanities, and suppliers of goods and services to the industry. All major U.S. cabinet manufacturing companies belong to KCMA, but 44% of the membership report annual sales of less than $5 million, and 63% are under $10 million in total annual sales.
