U.S.: Lumber and panel market report ---- Week 51 2018
Random Lengths Lumber Market Report

Trading was mixed, as sales picked up in some regions and others coasted toward the holidays. A sense that the cash market held value as futures advanced at midweek gave many Western S-P-F traders confidence at bottom had been found. This resulted in moderate gains in #2&Btr 2x4 and 2x6. Sales of dry framing also perked up in the Coast and Inland regions, lifting the late-year tone in those species. Southern Pine trading was measured, but inquiries from buyers in Texas increased moderately.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report

Structural panel markets took on a more solid tone as the holidays approached, despite measured trading. Prices of OSB headed into the holiday on a firmer footing. Mills in the South raised quotes above last week’s reported levels after extending order files as far as late January. Lingering softness dissipated in Southern Pine plywood markets. Buyers were more willing to address first-quarter needs. Some western Fir plywood traders reported a dull week of trading, but others noted an uptick.
