The framing lumber market was a grind for most traders, many of whom held to cautious purchasing strategies based on uncertain or pessimistic outlooks. Price trends remained muddled. Coast and Inland species stood out for their mostly supply-driven gains. Trading in the South continued to vary based on producing zone. In Canada, western mills battled for new orders, while Eastern S-P-F markets were in disarray amid speculation about the sunset of the 10% penalty tax on shipments to the U.S.

Structural panel markets played to mixed reviews. The OSB market was quiet, and most prices flat-lined across the course of the week. Mills continued to quietly adjust production to avoid having to force loads into an unreceptive market. Distributors stepped into the Southern Pine plywood market to replenish rated sheathing inventories. Some distributors noted a slight increase in their sales. Most western Fir plywood producers were not concerned that prices of sheathing and underlayment, having just bounced up from   year-to-date lows, would deter customers.
